The impending singularity

The technological singularity is the theoretical future point which takes place during a period of accelerating change, resulting in machines surpassing humans in intelligence. If machines could even slightly surpass human intellect, they could improve their own designs in ways unforeseen by their designers, and transform themselves into far greater intelligences.

It seems that concept is developing for me lately. I previously blogged on robots in the classroom; I just read a front page article in The New York Times entitled, "Ay Robot!
